Celebration of International Day of People with Disability

Person living with disability dancing

Come down to the Ivanhoe Library & Cultural Hub (ILCH) and join us for a day of fun to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD).

Schedule of events

Activities

All activities run from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

  • Art on display by artists with disability (art, poetry, films)
  • DJ with silent disco
  • Lego play
  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Arts and crafts
  • Quiet chill out space

No bookings required for these activities, just drop in or spend the day here, enjoying a variety of accessible activities.

Launch of new ILCH accessibility tools

As a part of the day, Banyule Deputy Mayor Peter Castaldo will launch our new accessible tools for ILCH.  These tools will provide the community with the opportunity to understand the venue and its accessibility ahead of time.  Through these tools, people can better prepare for their visit and specify if they require any reasonable adjustments to maximise their experience.

Contribute to a community art piece

This group session is facilitated by a local artist, and is part of our community consultation on loneliness and respect. We are keen to hear your thoughts, which we will then use to inform our upcoming Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan.  Staff will also be available to answer any questions you have on the access and inclusion tools and support you to trial them.
