Welcome zones for refugees and asylum seekers

A welcome zone is a local government area that welcomes refugees into its community: recognising human rights, demonstrating compassion and enhancing cultural and religious diversity. We became one in 2014.

We also acknowledge the contributions refugees have made to Australian society in medicine, science, engineering, sport, education and the arts.

Local programs

We offer a range of services that provide material aid, healthcare, English language classes, housing and legal support.
