Banyule Community Fund

The Banyule Community Fund (BCF) is a new community led non-profit fund that enables residents and businesses to make tax deductible donations towards local needs. You are giving local: all funds raised can only be granted to non-profit causes and charities in Banyule.

You will automatically be emailed tax documentation after you make a donation.

From our dedicated residents and our fundraiser events, we raised $21,000 in the first 6 months of the fund. If we work together to make this value grow, we can make a lasting impact on local residents, groups and businesses.

Why the Banyule Community Fund is important

We are committed to our Banyule Community Vision 2041 in fostering a thriving, sustainable, inclusive and connected community. There are charities and non-profit organisations in Banyule that will benefit from a variety of supports to achieve our collective goals.

That is why, in collaboration with the Australian Communities Foundation (ACF), we have developed the BCF: it is an ongoing way for local businesses and residents to financially support our charities and non-profit groups.

What will be funded?

You can choose a specific cause when you donate, or you can choose to donate to the fund overall.

The BCF areas for support are:

  • arts and culture
  • climate change and environmental sustainability
  • community connections and inclusion
  • disability
  • emergency relief
  • environmental stability and response to climate change
  • food security
  • housing and homelessness
  • mental health support.

These areas reflect the community priorities set out by our Community Vision 2041 over the next 20 years.

The fund will not replace our grant programs, which will remain available to non-profit organisations, for-profit businesses and sporting groups.

Who can donate?

Anybody from anywhere can donate. Donors can include:

  • associations
  • businesses
  • families
  • groups
  • individuals.

You can donate tax and non-taxable donations, starting from $2.

With a connected and engaged community like Banyule, we also encourage running or supporting local fundraisers. On this page you will find local fundraiser events supporting the BCF.

What is the ACF?

The ACF is a local non-profit fund that makes it easy to give to causes you care about within our community.

Although we promote and manage the BCF, the ACF hosts all donated funds, and ensures that applicants are Dedictible Goods Recipients.
