De Winton Park: stormwater harvesting project

The De Winton Park Stormwater Harvesting Project in Rosanna is part of our work ensuring local parks and sports fields will have their own water supply into the future.

We have built an innovative water conservation and water quality improvement system that captures, treats and stores stormwater underground for use on De Winton Park.

Visit the site and find the interpretive signs, which explain the process.

Benefits

The project generates annual water savings of up to 6 Olympic swimming pools of water, representing about $38,000 of value.

The system prevents approximately 3 tonnes of sediment, 43 kilograms of nitrogen and 6 kilograms of phosphorous from entering Salt Creek and the Yarra River.

How it works

Stormwater is harvested from a main drain flowing down Grove Road, then treated, stored and distributed to irrigate De Winton Park.
