Chelsworth Park: stormwater harvesting project
This innovative water conservation and water quality improvement system captures, treats and stores stormwater underground for use on Chelsworth Park and Ivanhoe Golf Course. As well as improving habitat for local wildlife, the project will keep these community facilities green and usable all year round for residents to enjoy (even in dry years).

Benefits
More than 30 Olympic swimming pools worth of stormwater will be harvested per year, worth about $200,000. The local environment will benefit as litter, sediment, nitrogen and phosphorous will be filtered out and prevented from entering local waterways.
The system removes approximately 20 tonnes of litter, 50 tonnes of sediment, 300 kilograms of nitrogen and 90 kilograms of phosphorous from stormwater flows to Reedy Billabong and the Yarra River.
How it works
Stormwater is harvested from a main drain flowing alongside The Boulevard, Ivanhoe, then treated, stored and distributed for irrigation on Chelsworth Park and Ivanhoe Golf Course.
