Works zone parking enquiry

Works zone parking restrictions can be installed to provide dedicated parking for worker vehicles directly in front of a construction site. Restrictions will only be considered for a minimum duration of 3 months.

Restrictions can only be applied to locations where parking is permitted.

Rules

A driver must not stop in a works zone unless the driver is in a vehicle engaged in construction work in or near the zone.

A works zone is not to be used for construction activities or any other purposes (for example, site sheds, crane lifts, plant equipment or material storage).

Hours

The standard hours of operation for a works zone are 7am-6pm on weekdays, 9am-3pm on weekends.

Documents you may need to create

Site plan

All applications require a site plan. Be sure to include:

  • location of proposed construction site
  • location of proposed works zone
  • location of current parking signs
  • number parking spaces and overall dimensions.

Approval letters

If you are proposing to use parking beyond your frontage of the construction site, you must get written approval from neighbouring.

This will be asked from you by the Traffic and Transport Team after you submit your initial enquiry.

Approval letters should include:

  • property owner name
  • contact details
  • acknowledgement of the spaces to be used
  • acknowledgement of the planned usage dates.
