Building works hours

Building works are permitted weekdays 7am-6pm and Saturdays 9am-3pm.

Work is not permitted on Sundays or ANZAC Day, Christmas Day and Good Friday. To work outside of these hours you need to apply for and obtain an out of hours permit.

Work site permits

We need to understand how your work will impact the surrounding areas, including noise, use of footpaths and roads in the course of work.

Park or open space access and occupation

You will need a permit if your project requires access your property via a park or open space.

Please allow at least 5 business days’ notice prior to starting work.

Out of hours work permit

Your application to conduct construction-related work outside of the permitted hours must include:

  • fees paid
  • notification of neighbours.

Using a crane on a road or footpath

Your application to use a crane on a road or footpath must include:

  • a detailed traffic management plan
  • copy of current public liability insurance certificate
  • fees paid
  • copy of endorsed VicRoads MOA (if required)
  • notification of neighbours (if required).

Placement of a gantry or cover-way in a public space

Your application to place a gantry, cover-way or overhead protection system with pedestrian access within a public space must include:

  • a detailed set of gantry drawings
  • copy of current public liability insurance certificate
  • fees paid
  • dilapidation report
  • statement agreeing to the commitment of reinstating Council’s assets in accordance with Council’s current standards and specifications, damaged during the course of construction and occupation
  • gantry computations and engineers sign off
  • certificate of design/inspection
  • copy of endorsed report & consent: Regulation 116 Public Protection (if required).

Placement of a hoarding area in a public place

Your application for the placement of hoarding within public space must include:

  • a detailed set of hoarding drawings
  • copy of current public liability insurance certificate
  • fees paid
  • hoarding computations and engineers' sign-off
  • copy of endorsed Report & Consent: Regulation 116 Public Protection (if required).

We do not support the placement of temporary fencing in public spaces.
