The Victorian Government is looking for your nomination for future place names. Learn how it is working to increase diversity in commemorative place names in Victoria.

This is your opportunity to put forward a Banyule resident who has made a significant community contribution.

Nominations for individuals from groups currently under-represented in Banyule, including women, First Peoples, LGBTQIA+, people with a disability and people from multicultural backgrounds are strongly encouraged.

Who can be nominated

Anyone who has left a lasting legacy can be nominated. For example, the person may be known for community and volunteer work, healthcare, science, architecture and building, sport, arts, public or military service.

To be commemorated, the person will:

  • be deceased for at least 2 years
  • have left a lasting legacy
  • have a long association with Banyule.

Submit a nomination

Nominations will be added to a council name bank, and will be considered when places need naming.
