Open call for older adults art exhibition

In October 2024, we will celebrate the contribution of artists from our older adults community with the art exhibition, Age of Creativity – Older Adults Art Exhibition, to be held in Loft 275 @ Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub (ILCH).

If you are an older adult (aged 60+) who lives, works or has a strong connection to Banyule, we invite you to submit up to 2 artworks for this exhibition. It will showcase your talents and perspectives, and will be part of our 2024 Seniors Festival celebrations.

Theme

We are interested  in artworks of any kind that explore your perspective of being an older person in our community. This can include painting, drawing, writing, photography, video and audio, sculpture, woodworking, textiles, metal-smithing and performance. 

Important 2024 dates

  • Application opens: 1 June
  • Applications close: 5pm 18 August
  • Entrants notified of decision: 30 August (by email or phone)
  • Due date for selected artworks delivered to ILCH: 23 September
  • Exhibition dates: 1-27 October.

Before you submit

  • Entry is free, and you can submit up to 2 artworks (separate entry form required for each)
  • Prepare an image of your artwork that shows the entire artwork clearly (if you are submitting a piece of writing or poetry, please provide it in a Word document or if it has special formatting, in a PDF format. If you have a digital or performance work, please a document with a description of the work and link to view/download it)
  • You will need to include a response to the theme in no more than 600 characters.
  • Employees of Banyule Council, councillors and members of our Aged-Friendly Advisory Committee are eligible to enter the exhibition, but are not eligible for any prizes.
  • You have an option to sell your artwork at the exhibition: if you are interested, note a sale prince in the application.

After you submit

Once your form is submitted, you will receive a confirmation receipt via email.

Note, this is not an acceptance that your work will be included in the exhibition. You will be notified on an outcome on 30 August.

This receipt will include the preparation, delivery and collection information should your work be selected. Be sure that you have used an email address that will arrive to you.
