The Bush Crew is very grateful for the privilege of teaming up with the Narrap Rangers and local friends-of groups to look after key revegetation sites and reserves.
The Friends of Andrew Yandell Habitat Reserve have returned to remove woody weeds from the southern section of the site, and have also been hard at work pulling cape ivy off the bursaria and tree violet. We had an impromptu visit from local entomologist Linda Rogan, who showed us some native green and gold nomia and wasp mimic bees. It was nice to have a break from the hard work and add to our knowledge of the reserve’s fauna.
At Banyule Flats Reserve the Narrap Rangers have been working with us to remove weeds from the now well-established indigenous food, fibre and medicine garden. It has been great to share knowledge and have their input with management decisions. With their help we have created a thriving garden of useful plants.
The native gardens at Banyule Flats Reserve have been greatly improved over the last few years, with thorough site preparation, attractive plant choices and consistent follow up maintenance. The Warringal Conservation Society returned to their planting recently to do some follow up hand weeding, making the site look fantastic. They are looking forward to their next planting at their 50th anniversary site in May, when we will be enriching the revegetation with a variety of indigenous grasses, lilies and forbs.
