Bush Crew diaries February 2023
Published on 23 January 2023
Over the past months the Plenty River, along with many other tributaries within Banyule, have suffered severe flooding after storms swept through the state.
Much of the vegetation along the water zones were flattened as floods of water made new paths along the river corridor. Wildlife, such as wombats, were temporarily displaced, and large trees were uprooted and swept downstream along with multitudes of rubbish and silt.
Before the water subsided, much of the rubbish was dumped up onto the banks and into the conservation reserves along the Plenty River Trail. This year for Clean Up Australia Day the Bush Crew will be hosting an event at Yallambie Park to try and clear up some of the rubbish along the river banks.
If you would like to help out, please come along from 10am-12pm on Sunday, 5 March 2023. No reservations are required.
Parking will be at 2 Moola Close, Yallambie, with signage leading down into the park.
Look for the bushland ute and staff handing out bags.
