Are you interested in creating public art?

In this special, 5-part workshop series facilitated by Victoria Jones of T-Projects, selected participants will have the opportunity to gain comprehensive tips and knowledge for creating public art, including preparing for opportunities, concept development and presentation.

While prior public art experience is not necessary, this workshop series suits creatives interested in exploring public art as part of their career.

Subjects

  1. Introduction to public art – what’s involved and is it right for me?
  2. Getting ready for public art – what do you need to have in place?
  3. Chasing the dream – where to find public art opportunities and how to apply for them, including top tips for what not to do
  4. Art in public spaces opportunity – things to consider when creating a concept
  5. Concept submission and presentation – clinching the deal

Mandatory participation dates

You must be able to participate in all workshops at Ivanhoe Library and Culture Hub on:

  • Tuesday 27 May, 6:30-7:30pm
  • Tuesday 3 June, 6:30-7:30pm
  • Tuesday 10 June, 6:30-7:30pm
  • Tuesday 17 June, 6:30-7:30pm
  • Tuesday 24 June, 6:30-7:30pm

About the facilitator

T-Projects is a group of independent arts consultants, founded by Victoria Jones in 2017. It specialises in creative strategy development, public art commissioning and developing and delivering arts and cultural initiatives.

It provides a start-to-finish service, delivering major public artworks and creative programs. It works with a wide range of clients, including:

  • government agencies and local authorities
  • healthcare providers
  • planners, developers and construction companies
  • urban designers, architects and landscape architects
  • interior designers
  • cultural organisations.

The group also provides a range of support services for artists. It works with emerging, mid-career and established artists with diverse practices, media and materials.

Artists receivc support, technical advice and project management to ensure commissions integrate easily within a wider project, design team, site and context.

Selection

Participants will be selected based on the relevance of the opportunity to the person’s art practice or creative career. These workshops are open to artist and creatives who live, work or have a significant connection to Banyule.
