Real estate sign permit
If your real estate business operates in Banyule and you want to place signs in the street to promote properties for sale, then you will need a permit.
Permits must be renewed on 31 October each year.
Restrictions on placing signs
Pointer board signs
Pointer board must not be more than 0.5 square metres in size and must include the time open for inspection or time of auction.
They can be placed on the nature strip, or the kerb side of the footpath if there is no nature strip. They must be secure, not obstruct the vision of drivers or pedestrians, and can't be on roundabouts or median strips.
Pointer board can only be displayed on the day that the properties are open for inspection or for auction, and must removed within 1 hour of completion time.
Agencies can have a maximum of 3 signs per property, and a maximum of 18 signs on our streets.
Flags
Flags are not permitted to hang over the footpath. They must be contained within the property they are advertising.

As part of your application you need to:
- provide details of your public liability insurance
- pay the fee of $600
- agree to our conditions with regards to set up, conduct and displaying your permit.
This permit is required by General Local Law No. 1 (2015)
