Filming in Banyule

A permit is required to film or undertake commercial photography within public spaces – for example streets, footpaths, ovals, bushland reserves – around Banyule.

If you plan to film or undertake commercial photography in or near a building we own or manage, you are also required to apply for a filming location agreement(PDF, 29KB).

Application

Your application to film on our land will require:

  • contact details of all involved
  • running sheet
  • pedestrian and traffic management plan
  • safety and risk mitigation plan
  • site plans
  • communication (stakeholder notification) plans
  • certificate of currency for public liability insurance regarding the filming activity
  • completed filming location agreement (where applicable).

Our guidelines set out expectations and requirements for filming and stills photography, and your application will be reviewed against this criteria. This includes filing for:

  • TV or feature films
  • shooting ads
  • student film projects
  • documentaries
  • music videos
  • commercial stills photography (including wedding photography).

Filming is usually not permitted between midnight and 6am. In some instances, permission may be granted for filming during these hours.

Essential vehicles and crew parking permits: subsequent day $85.00 per 8 bays per day
Weekday filming or commercial photography inspection $156.00
Weekend filming or commercial photography inspection $621.00
Unit base fee $570.00 per day
