Food businesses

If your business prepares, stores or sells food – including home-based businesses – it must be registered with us.

We can offer advice on buying or setting up a food business, explain safety and handling requirements and inspect your location to make sure you comply with regulations.

Starting a new food business

Before you open your new food business, your fit-out must pass inspection. Learn how to register your business and operate according to food safety rules.

Buying an existing food business

Understand if a business meets food regulations. Ask us to inspect premises, change ownership and registration, lodge food safety paperwork.

Food trucks and market stalls

If your business sells food from a food van, stall or trailer at a market, special or major open-air event, fete, street stall or festival, you need to register with FoodTrader.
