Home harvest seed saving workshop

Learn how to close the loop in your productive garden and save money by harvesting your own seeds year after year.

This popular hands-on workshop will explore everything from the easiest seeds to collect to the more challenging ones. We will also cover tips on timing, storage and seasonal seed collection.

Led by Maria from My Green Garden, you will get practical experience harvesting seeds from plants, and everyone will take home packets of their own seeds to grow.

Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided, so please note dietary needs during registration.

Let’s grow a thriving garden together.

Things to know

  • Children aged 10+ are welcome but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle and keep-cup.
  • If you are unwell on the day, please stay home to protect others.

Getting there

Hurstbridge trains arrive at Watsonia Station, then catch a connecting bus to Greenwood Drive. Trams on Route 86 (RMIT/Docklands) stop at the intersection of Plenty Road and Greenwood Drive, then a 10-minute walk to the college.


Buses are also available:

  • Route 568: Watsonia Station – Kingsbury (via Greenwood Drive)
  • Route 560 Greensborough Station – Broadmeadows (via Grimshaw Street)
  • Route 566: Greensborough Station – Lalor Station (via Mill Park Stables)
