Neighbourhood Watch public art

Peeling paint on a wall with sky

Neighbourhood Watch explores and tests our imagination and memory of familiar places, through a series of photo works that  are temporarily installed on Main Street, Greensborough. Through her camera lens, Banyule resident and photographic artist Aldona Kmieć records the familiar architecture of Greensborough streets in a series of tightly cropped frames, pushing the subject and its meaning into almost unrecognisable abstract form.

Documenting an exciting close-up perspective of the suburb, the artist encourages reflection and awareness of the subtleties and intricacies of our surroundings that often go unnoticed.

This work is part of our Art in Public Spaces Program which invigorates our communal spaces and encourages you to think about our urban environment differently. Each year we support local artists to deliver a range of new and original, one-off, temporary site-specific art projects.
