Great Southern Bioblitz
The Great Southern BioBlitz is a southern hemisphere citizen science challenge that invites to community to make observations of nature over the challenge dates.
This year, Banyule is teaming up with other Greater Melbourne councils and organisation to compete. To be involved, you simply need to download the iNaturalist app and make observations of nature using this over the challenge period.
Using the app
Download the iNaturalist app to your device or set up an account on your computer.
Make observations and upload them to iNaturalist (you can make observations at any time, but only those over the weekend will count as part of the Bioblitz).
The information collected is highly useful for local biodiversity managers to see trends in our natural environment and help them plan for better future outcomes.
Don't worry if you can't identify the organism. Just make sure you get some good clear photos or sounds (iNaturalist uses artificial intelligence to suggest identifications and experts will be able to verify what your living thing is).
Making observations
In your backyard, on the street, in your local park or reserve, help us record our biodiversity.
