Cultural walk at the Birrarung

People on nature trail in bush

Join us for an exciting event to connect with culture and country at one of our amazing natural and cultural hotspots, Banyule Flats Reserve and the Birrarung.

During this event, you will be guided on a walk around Banyule Flats with Thane Garvey-Gannaway, learning about traditional land management practices and the importance of Wurundjeri culture.

At the end, you will be treated to some delicious catering and have the chance to reflect on an amazing event.

What to bring

Please ensure you have weather appropriate clothing, closed toed shoes and drinking water.

Children are very welcome and encouraged to attend but must be under parent or guardian supervision at all times.

This event is also part of the 2024 Birrarung Riverfest. Celebrate our river at one of 30+ events being hosted over 3 weeks from 1-22 September. Whether you enjoy riverside walks, cleanups or paddling adventures, there’s something for everyone. Riverfest is presented by the Yarra Riverkeeper Association.
