Artist in residence Kevin Ritchie
Every plant has wild origins. The focus of From the Wild: The Art of Bonsai with Kevin Ritchie will be the process of interpreting and developing these wild origins, working with the characteristics of each tree and combining with pottery and other arts to create inspiring bonsai artworks.
An established bonsai tree is the product of the work of a bonsai artist, working with the characteristics of each species which are the product of the ecosystems and landscapes within which the trees evolved and adapted over millennia.
This program will help explore stories of the land, the ecosystems and the plants that we have all around us, linking art forms and ideas, working from inspirations in nature and bringing together a variety of art forms to generate interpretations of nature in the wild.
