Price Park
This 7 hectare reserve sits on hills surrounded by roads and houses. Most of the reserve is mown grassland with a mix of exotic, native and remnant indigenous trees.
History
European settlement cleared the area for farmland. The reserve was named after HP Price, a shire secretary from 1895 to 1933.
Flora and fauna
The reserve is in the Gippsland Plain bioregion, and has many vegetation communities, including: plains grassy woodland/river red gum (exposed plain-slope), grassy dry forest/box–stringybark woodland, yellow box (hill–slope) and plains grassy woodland/river red gum (sheltered plain-slope). It is managed by Banyule's Bushland Management Unit.
There are many important species, including the nodding salt bush, wallaby grass and yellow box.
