Olympic Reserve

This 0.86 hectare reserve is part of a series of small reserves throughout Montmorency that form part of a habitat corridor. It is divided into a grassy area with a playground, and another section designated for conservation.

Flora and fauna

The vegetation community for the reserve is grassy dry forest/box stringybark woodland, yellow box dominated, considered regionally threatened. The reserve also has plants such as chocolate lilies, bulbine lilies and matted bush peas.

Sugar gliders have also been seen in the reserve. Work is currently being done to maintain their health and population.

The reserve is primarily managed by Banyule's Bushland Management Department, and with assistance from local volunteers. If you are interested in helping out, join the Friends of Montmorency Bushlands.
