A total fire ban has been declared across Banyule and all other parts of Victoria for today. No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air at any time on 22 February 2025.
This 1.04 hectare reserve provides an important refuge for local wildlife to travel between nearby bushland.
No cats or dogs are permitted in this reserve.
This reserve is in the highlands-southern fall bioregion, and has 2 vegetation communities: grassy dry forest/box-stringybark woodland – red box (hill slope) and herb–rich foothill forest–red stringybark (sheltered hill–slope).
146 plant species have been recorded in the reserve, including sweet bursaria, chocolate lily and narrow-leaf bitter pea.
This reserve has been disturbed from timber cutting and grazing by horses. Before 2013, it was part of a larger bushland area and was privately owned. The reserve was acquired by Banyule Council, which subdivided the site, with a portion that was developed. The most intact and environmentally significant portion of the site was set aside as a conservation reserve, now managed by Council’s Bushland Management Unit.
