Creek Bend Reserve
This 5.6 hectare linear reserve runs beside Banyule Creek. It has large river red gums, and is part of an important wildlife corridor for rainbow lorikeets, tawny frogmouths and other animals.
History
Creek Bend Reserve was originally intended to be a freeway reserve, and was once a weedy landscape with little community access. Banyule's Bushland Management Unit has controlled many noxious weeds at this site, and the reserve is now accessible by a trail.
Flora and fauna
The reserve is in the Gippsland Plain bioregion, and has many vegetation communities, including: creekline grassy woodland - river red gum (creek), plains grassy woodland - river red gum (exposed plain - slope) and plains grassy woodland - river red gum (terrace/valley).
