About single-use cups
In Banyule, all single-use coffee cups must go to landfill.
When we see cups labelled as compostable or biodegradable, this does not mean they can be placed in a FOGO bin, as these products do not break down in our composting process. This generates a huge amount of waste from consuming a hot beverage.
About biodegradable claims
Many companies label their products with compostable and biodegradable logos, which may make it seem like a more sustainable products. They are not.
When choosing takeaway food/beverage packaging use 100% non-dyed paper items that can then be placed in the recycle bin.
