Create a home electrification plan

Join the Electrify Banyule revolution for a healthy, comfortable and modern home.

When your appliances need replacing, use your electrification plan to save up to 75% per year on your bills. It's a major way to save money and energy at home.

Making a plan

Step 1.Check the age of your appliances

Record the age of your gas appliances and any petrol or diesel cars.

Check receipts or the appliance nameplate to get a clear understanding of when the appliance might need replacing.

Step 2.Electric appliances and budget

There is a wide range of costs for electric appliance alternatives, but here are some fundamental decisions to keep in mind.

Current appliance Electric solutions Most energy efficient solutions
Gas heating
  • Electric space heater
  • Ducted reverse cycle air conditioning
  • Split system reverse cycle air conditioning
  • Heat pump hydronic heating
Gas hot water
  • Electric storage (with solar and timer)
  • Electric heat pump
Gas cook top
  • Electric stove
  • Induction stove
Gas oven
  • Electric oven
Petrol or diesel car

  • Electric vehicle
  • Electric bike

Step 3.Create a timeline

Prioritise the order of replacing any required appliances and vehicles.

Budget plays a big role here, but try and prioritise replacing appliances that are more than 10 years old.
