Fair Access in Sport Policy 2024-2028

The Victorian Government Office for Women in Sport mandates that all local government authorities adopt a Fair Access policy and action plan to promote inclusive sports participation and address the unique challenges faced by women, girls, and gender-diverse bodies, particularly regarding:

  • equitable access to and use of community sports facilities and infrastructure.
  • full participation in all aspects of community sport.

This policy sets guiding principles and objectives aimed at building our capacity to identify and address systemic barriers to gender equality in community sport. It focuses on enhancing programs, communications, service delivery, and equitable use of sports facilities.

The 4-year policy and action plan outlines how we will provide local leadership and work with community sports organisations, leagues, peak bodies, and other stakeholders to advance the objectives of the Fair Access in Sport Policy.

Together, these efforts aim to improve the sporting experiences of women, girls, and gender-diverse bodies.
