Gender-diverse participation grants

The new initiative supports women embrace physical activity in a way that suits them.

We are offering this grant program to sport and recreation clubs and groups that run events or programs that provide participation opportunities for women, including gender-diverse and transgender women.

The total grant pool is $6,000 with a maximum of $1,000 per applicant.

Key dates

  • Submissions open 5 September 2022
  • Submissions close 23 September 2022
  • Assessment period runs through October 2022
  • Outcomes sent at the end of October 2022

Eligibility

To apply, sporting clubs must:

  • must be located in Banyule
  • have been established and operational for at least 12 months
  • are incorporated or have auspice support
  • have an ABN or willing to complete a statement by supplier form
  • have current public liability insurance
  • submit at least 1 quote

Who cannot apply

  • Individuals
  • Schools and churches
  • Un-acquitted, or insufficiently acquitted previous Banyule grants will deem the application ineligible
  • Clubs with overdue seasonal fees or outstanding debt to Banyule

Application

Clubs must provide detail that demonstrates how this grant will provide sport or recreation opportunities for women, including gender-diverse and transgender women.

All applications for relevant purchases and services are required to provide at least 1 quote from a supplier.

Assessment and acquittal

We have a conflict of interest declaration that all parties involved in the assessment process must complete prior to the assessment period.

There are 3 stages in the assessment process:

  1. Eligibility check
  2. Officer review and comments
  3. Grants panel allocations

Applications are assessed against the following key criteria:

  • Value for money
  • Likelihood of success
  • Benefit to our community

Applicants will receive notification of the outcome in writing within 3 weeks of the respective application closing date.

Amounts will be decided on a case-by-case basis up to the amount of $1,000.

Acquittal

Within 6 months of the activity, you must provide us with:

  • evidence of the club development or training in a short statement
  • 1 image of the activity that we may use for promotional purposes.

If you fail to acquit your grant appropriately, you may be asked to repay your grant money in full and be excluded from future grant rounds.

The grants process is open and accessible to everyone, including if:

  • you need a printed copy of the guidelines or a printed copy in large print;
  • you need to discuss these guidelines by phone;
  • you need the guidelines in a captioned video format;
  • you need to discuss the guidelines with us using the services of an Auslan interpreter;
