Work experience and tertiary placement
Our Work Experience and Tertiary Placement programs will pause for the holiday season. During this period, our offices will be closed, and we will not be available to respond to inquiries. We will begin processing applications on Monday 3 February 2025. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to reconnecting with you in the new year.
Our work experience and student placement programs provide young individuals with organisational exposure, equipping them for the challenges that lie ahead in shaping our future. Priority will be given to people who live or study locally.
We champion diversity, inclusion and belonging, and are dedicated to offering a broad spectrum of opportunities to as many secondary students as possible. Participants get a firsthand look into the daily routines of our employees, gaining insights into the day-to-day operations of various departments. Year 10 work experience
A work experience placement at Banyule Council introduces you to the daily life of our employees, and may include physical work. You will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of one of our departments.
If you are offered a place, you will need to send us a completed work experience arrangement form. Ask for one from your school Work Experience Coordinator.
Understand that we receive more applications than we have places to offer.
Tertiary placement
Tertiary placements are for students who are completing a current tertiary course and are required to complete a work placement as part of their studies.
A placement provides the opportunity to apply academic learning in the workplace and develop work readiness. It is unpaid and can be project or time-based.
Tertiary placements must be a requirement of the course completion and endorsed by your tertiary institution.
Priority will be given to La Trobe University students, or students that live locally.
