What we are seeking
We are asking for a Victorian Government investment of $1.5 million to construct 2 netball courts and storage facilities at Ivanhoe Park.
What it will deliver
The project will increase capacity for netballers, particularly for women and girls, by providing a venue that meets the demands of the sport. It will provide unity for the Ivanhoe Netball Club by offering a training venue in the one location.
The courts will also be accessible by community for unstructured and casual play. Access to new and upgraded compliant netball facilities will provide opportunities for growth in the sport and potentially increase participation.
What you can do
To help us deliver this priority, you can write to our Lower House Member of Parliament for this electorate or any of our Upper House Members of Parliament for their commitment to deliver funding for this project.
Overview
The Ivanhoe Netball Club fields teams from ages 9 and under through to seniors, amounting to over 220 club members.
The club plays an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of young girls and women in our community by providing opportunity to participate in local physical team activity. It also creates strong local community relationships and supports local volunteerism and connectedness.
The club remains without a home base. It uses many different venues to train, which makes it challenging in terms of costs, time, access and opportunity. This hinders connectedness for their members.
We are looking to partner with the Victorian Government to redevelop Ivanhoe Park’s sports infrastructure as part of the Ivanhoe Sports Precinct Plan.
The redevelopment part of the park for netball will provide sustainable benefits to the community and Ivanhoe Netball Club by providing a home with safe and compliant facilities for local players. This includes constructing 2 netball courts to Netball Victoria standards, associated storage and an amenities building.
