What we are seeking

We seek a Victorian Government investment of $700,000 to redevelop the pavilion at Anthony Beale Reserve to include female-friendly changerooms and expanded community meeting spaces.

What it will deliver

Upgrades to the pavilion will include female-friendly changerooms and umpire amenities, expanded community meeting and catering spaces. Female-friendly change rooms are a fundamental requirement to increase and support female participation in sport, yet there is no dedicated female-friendly changeroom area in the existing pavilion.

Additionally, the upgrade will also address the severe lack of local spaces for hire by St Helena residents.

What you can do

To help us deliver this priority, you can write to our Lower House Member of Parliament for this electorate or any of our Upper House Members of Parliament for their commitment to deliver funding for this project.

Overview

Anthony Beale Reserve is hosting an increasing number of female sporting teams as the number of girls and young women participating in traditional male sports (such as AFL and cricket) continues to rise.

The existing pavilion does not cater for female users, and the facilities do not meet the needs of the local community. Anthony Beale is the home ground of Greensborough Junior Football Club, Auskick and is used by a local primary school for their co-educational sports curriculum.

The proposed improvements are based on resident and sporting club responses to our 2023 Community Infrastructure Plan, developed to ensure our buildings meet current and future needs.

The new designs ensure that the pavilion will be an inclusive facility that meets universal design guidelines, is environmentally sustainable and fit or purpose.

Why now?
Detailed designs are complete, and work is ready to start in 2024-2025. Female participation in sport continues to grow and we are committed to providing accessible and inclusive access to sport and recreation for everyone.
